About the owners: We bought our first vacation rental home, the Banana Cabana to serve as our home away from home while living overseas in 2005. Now, we are living in the United States, and the house became so popular over the last 11 years with vacationers that we added a second one, the Aquadesiac.
Why the Owner Chose South Padre Island, TX, USA
After living for six years in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, a city situated on the coast of the Caribbean, I knew I had to have a place somewhere on or near a beach with a tropical environment. South Padre Island was as far south as I could get in Texas before crossing the border into Mexico, and within five minutes after crossing the causeway onto this island, I knew it was the perfect place for an island getaway home. In the eleven years I have owned property here, I have never once regretted the decision. The subtropical climate, warm sunny days, beautiful sunrises and sunsets make it a wonderful escape from one’s reality. The island is chock full of great restaurants serving up fresh seafood as well as international cuisine, and I have found I can be as busy or as laid back as I want to be on this island – a perfect fit!
The Unique Benefits of the Banana Cabana:
Although only 3/10 mile (5-min walk) from the beach, the Banana Cabana is 1/2 blk from the bay (nice view from back deck!). It is located on a quiet dead-end street – perfect for families with children. The pool & back yard face the south, so you have a full day of warm sunshine as well as a large covered area.
